Adding Firewire CardBus ard ignores drive and drops wireless connection?

I have an Acer 5610 laptop running Vista. I recently purchased a Firewire CardBus PCMCIA card. When I plug it in, it disconnects my wireless connection, and my Firewire drive does not show up. Any thoughts?

this seems to be an age old problem. the wireless card and a PC card (either Firewire or USB) seems to be unsociable.
i had the same problem years ago (wireless and USB PC card). when using the USB card i had to connect to the internet by wire.

i never found out the reason what led to this behaviour but i suppose it could be either insuffient interrupt resources or the 2 drivers affect each other (both cards are on the PCI bus, what is btw. no problem on desktop computers).
