PCI Slots… (x16 and 2.0) Very Confused!?

Im thinking about getting a new graphics card but it uses a “PCI Express 2.0″ slot, my motherboard has three PCI slots and one “PCI Express x16″, will the graphics card work? If so at its full potential?

Yes, the card will work as it is backwards compatible, but will not run as fast as it would on a PCI-Express 2.0. A PCI-Express 2.0 card running on a PCI-Express 2.0 slot will yield larger bandwidth, as opposed to a PCI-Express 2.0 card running on a regular PCI-Express x16 slot, as it is limited to the lower bandwidth.

You should buy the graphics card anyways, as it will have future support if you wish to buy a new computer.
